Description:

The Philadelphia Green program of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society is seeking a talented, flexible, and well-organized team player to support our work providing education, technical assistance and resource through the City Harvest projects that increase the volume of fresh produce to local food cupboards and marketing outlets. The Coordinator will support on-going operations of seedling production at several locations including the Philadelphia prison, assist community gardens and urban farms in all aspects of crop production, work with the project team in recruitment and coordination of volunteers to implement workdays and assist in project related documentation. 
High school diploma is required, associates or bachelor degree in related field preferred. Minimum 3 years experience growing through three full seasons of intensive, organic vegetable production, greenhouse crop planning and greenhouse management from seed to harvest. Experience and ability to coordinate and present workshops, survey and assess gardens needs and manage volunteers. Ability to interact comfortably with a widely diverse urban community is essential. Strong community service background desired. Computer skills-word, excel, power point. Valid driver’s license and criminal record check and finger printing required. Ability to work some nights and weekends and lift or carry up to 50lbs.
