Environment New Jersey works to protect New Jersey’s air, water and open spaces. Our group speaks out and takes action at the local, state and national levels to improve the quality of our environment and our lives. Environment New Jersey is now hiring a State Administrator to further develop our program.
 

Job Description
 
In any fast-paced, dynamic nonprofit, a stable and efficient work environment is critical for success. The administrator works with Environment New Jersey’s executive director to handle the financial management of the organization, create and manage the budget and provide organizational support to Environment New Jersey’s staff. Specific responsibilities of the administrator include:
 

Financial Operations:
 Maintain the organization’s financial records using the QuickBooks accounting program; handle accounts payable and receivables, track income, manage payroll and personnel benefits using basic accounting; complete corporate tax and other legal filings; and coordinate yearly audit. 

Budget creation:
 Aid in the creation and tracking of the organization’s $1M budget; create and maintain grant spending plans; and create financial reports for grant funders. 

Organizational development:
 Assist the executive director in the ongoing operations of the organization. Provide support to staff by ensuring they have the resources they need to do their work; assist in coordination of internal and external communications such as campaign materials, newsletters; coordinate and participate in staff retreats and meetings; and maintain organizational files and records. 

Background in Public interest issues:
 The ideal candidate will have a background working with public interest or non profit organizations. This could include working with campus organizations, community groups, statewide or national organizations who focus on environmental or public interest issues. 

Qualifications
 
Highly motivated individual with a strong commitment to the public interest and a desire to work in the non-profit field; basic understanding of bookkeeping or accounting either through previous experience or education; the ambition and ability to take broad responsibility for an entire organization; an attention to detail and organization skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously; strong problem solving skills; strong written and verbal skills; and, experience using Word, Excel, Outlook and other computer programs.
 

Salary & Benefits
 
Salary ranges from $23,750 to $30,000 depending on experience. The benefits package includes educational loan assistance for qualified staff, a retirement plan, paid vacation and sick days, parental leave, and a dependent care assistance program. Health care is provided for experienced applicants; entry-level staff may elect to join our health care plan through a pre-tax payroll deduction.
