Each semester, PennEnvironment runs an internship program that gives students like you the opportunity to learn how to make a real impact on critical environmental issues.
You’ll learn how to analyze environmental problems, advocate for smart solutions, and build public support.
·Field Internships: Over the course of the internship, you will learn the basics of a variety of environmental issues, and then work with our campaign and advocacy staff to demonstrate support for these issues from local organizations, businesses and other voices, as well as our citizen members.
·Legislative Internships:You will work with PennEnvironment’s advocacy staff gaining in-depth knowledge on one or two specific issues. You’ll monitorthe progress of legislation in the state house and the actions of Congress. And you’ll attend meetings with lawmakers and other decision makers.
·Research Internships:You’ll conduct research into critical environmental problems, and potential solutions, and help to write reports.
·Media Internships:You will work with PennEnvironment to organize press conferences, pitch stories to reporters, respond to breaking news and requests for information and interviews, and assist in writing and placing opinion pieces. You will learn a variety of messaging and media outreach skills, while ensuring that our issues stay at the forefront of the news cycle, the public, and the minds of key decision makers.
Although PennEnvironment internships are unpaid, students may receive academic credit from their college or university. PennEnvironment will also participate in college work-study programs.
An internship with PennEnvironment gives you the training and the experience you need to land a job in the environmental movement after graduation.
