The Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) seeks a part-time Publications and Resource Center Assistant. The primary focus of this position will be to assist with the development of the weekly AASHE Bulletin, including researching and writing stories. This e-newsletter delivers the latest campus sustainability news, resources, opportunities and events from the U.S. and Canada.
This position will also help with the development of AASHE’s interactive, online Resource Center by helping to research campus sustainability resources and writing related blog posts.

Duties

The assistant will perform some combination of the following tasks:
  • Research and write stories for the AASHE Bulletin
  • Perform internet searches to obtain stories for the AASHE Bulletin
  • Manage AASHE’s Membership Spotlight series
  • Manage social media outreach for the AASHE Bulletin, Member Spotlight and Sustainability Student Diary series
  • Manage AASHE’s Events Calendar
  • Research for the development of campus sustainability resources
  • Contribute to AASHE’s blog and forums
  • Respond to member questions in writing and on the phone
  • Perform other duties and tasks as necessary

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong internet research skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Knowledge of AP style a plus
  • Familiarity with social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter
  • Self-motivated
  • Collaborative, team player
  • Knowledge of AASHE’s main programs and services
  • Interest and experience in campus sustainability
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree
  • Relevant professional experience a plus
  • Legal eligibility to work in the United States

Location

The Publications Assistant may work from our Denver, CO office, our Lexington, KY office or remotely from a home office in any of the following states: Oregon, Colorado, Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Massachusetts or North Carolina.

Hours and Compensation

This is a part-time, 25-hour per week position. Pay is between $14-15 per hour, depending on experience.

Reporting

This is a non-exempt position that reports to the Resource Center Manager and works in collaboration with existing Resource Center staff.
