Description: 
Citizens for Pennsylvania’s Future (PennFuture), a statewide public interest membership organization, seeks qualified applicants for a position in our Wilkes-Barre office to serve as Northeast Pennsylvania outreach coordinator.
Job duties: 
The successful applicant will be responsible for the following activities:
  • conducting presentations on natural gas drilling, global warming and related issues (renewable energy, energy conservation, energy efficiency) to targeted constituencies;
  • placing letters to editors, producing podcasts and coordinating other local media efforts;
  • coordinating and managing a global warming conference in NE PA;
  • writing and editing periodic global warming digests;
  • generating support for PennFuture’s policy campaigns in Northeastern Pennsylvania and conducting other outreach tasks including membership development and special-event organization;
  • organizing legislative visits at the state and federal levels and maintaining relationships with legislative staff;
  • providing assistance to legal staff on local issues, including file reviews and community engagement;
  • building relationships and coalitions around campaign issues, particularly in relation to natural gas drilling.
Qualifications: 
The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of the region and be positioned to network easily within key constituencies. Prior experience and demonstrable ability for public speaking, presentations and community organizing required. Proficiency with basic computer skills including word processing, e-mail and Internet applications required. The successful candidate must be self motivated and able to handle multiple tasks at once.
Specifications: Evening and weekend hours are occasionally required. Salary in the low to mid-30s, pro-rated payments toward the cost of health care and generous holiday and vacation leave is included. PennFuture is an equal opportunity employer.
