Dearest Friends. 

Here's the quick rundown - I am helping manage an environmental internship program for ARAMARK. At the last minute we are changing our plan and trying to place an intern at the ARAMARK location where I worked last year in Princeton.

The internship is $10/hr (full time) mid-March through late August. The work is fun. free food...last year I spent the whole year playing outside and getting an herb garden built.

Are you interested, or do you know any one who is interested? (Basically if I can't find a few potential candidates then I will be cancelling the position). I do not want this job announcement circulated as it is a very last minute underground effort and I don't want to go through the whole recruitment process.

PS you must be available to attend a 3-day training and orientation program March 8-10 in Philly.

Position Description: The Environmental Intern will serve as a key resource in supporting and advancing ARAMARK’s commitment to Environmental Stewardship at a corporate location, in Skillman, NJ.This company has been partnering with ARAMARK for eight years with a unique cost plus accounting program that provides meals for free to client employees. The  account in Skillman, NJ serves over 1,200 people daily and is currently the only Green Restaurant Certified Cafeteria in New Jersey.

The Intern will gain hands on operational experience, focused on tracking and sourcing sustainable food, expanding and managing the on-site herb garden, developing environmental education and marketing materials, developing an Earth Day program, and working towards Green Restaurant Certification.

Specific Responsibilities to Include:
·         Research environmentally friendly products, food items, packaging, displays, equipment, etc. and present findings to ARAMARK managers on a periodic basis.
·         Work towards achieving Green Restaurant Re-Certification at select locations
·         Expand and manage on-site herb garden
·         Coordinate and manage environmental data tracking in conjunction with client Green Team
·         Work with regional marketing manager to develop environmental marketing, communications and training program to educate and engage client, customers and employees in current and future initiatives
·         Develop and implement Earth Day program (i.e. activities and marketing materials), ensuring relevance at accounts nation-wide for replication by location specific contacts

Qualifications:
·         Position is open to undergraduate (juniors and seniors only) or graduate students, and recent graduates early in their career; maximum of 1-3 years existing professional experience.
·         Academic degree, experience or knowledge specific or related to environmental issues.
Studies or knowledge of hospitality or facilities services strongly preferred.
·         Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated evidence as team player, and excellent oral and written communication skills (including public speaking). Project and program management experience a plus.
·         Proven leadership skills, strong analytic and planning skills, an ability to understand and synthesize diverse and competing processes and viewpoints.
·         Maturity and experience to understand the diverse challenges and opportunities in finding the nexus between environmental activities, financial constraints, and operational excellence.
·         Previous experience working for or with ARAMARK, and ability to understand the dynamics of our business model, is a plus.
·         Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
