Planning For Success: Embarking On Your Career In Planning
Leonardo Vazquez is a community and local economic development planner who specializes in strategic communications and leadership development. He has a long and varied career in journalism, nonprofit management, and urban planning. He is the author of Leading from the Middle: Strategic Thinking for Urban Planning and Community Development Professionals and is co-editor of a forthcoming book on placemaking in Latino communities. His understanding of workplace-based interpersonal relationships and organizational dynamics (what we often call “office politics”) and focus on building leaders in the planning field helps him provide insights and career guidance to young and mid-career planning professionals.

The Professional Development Institute provides high quality continuing education in the areas of creative placemaking, community and economic development, planning law, professional practice, and urban design. The Leading Institute provides leadership development for planning and placebuilding professionals and helps communities build their capacity to handle challenging issues in planning and development.
