Land Preservation Intern
Time period:
 Mid-May until August
 Approximately 20 hours per week
 Schedule can be adjusted to fit interns needs
Qualifications and skills:
 Reliability and strong work ethic
 Interest in land preservation, geography, and the environment
 Strong writing, verbal and inter-personal communication skills.
 Ability to work independently on projects
 Comfort with interview techniques 
 Possible work with volunteers
 Access and willingness to use personal vehicle for interviews and off-site work
 Familiarity with MS Windows and Microsoft products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
 Experience using a digital camera (both still and video).
Potential Projects: 
 Assisting with a major fall Montgomery County Lands Trust event
 Working with volunteers
 Developing, assembling and distributing support material
 Assisting with promotion of event
 Researching properties, tax maps, and public documents.
 Organizing files
 Current easements
 Past easements
 Planning projects
 Converting old files to a digital format
 Easement documents
 Baseline documents
 Assisting with organizing smaller land-owner events
 Mailing letters/invitations
 Calling landowners
 Assisting with event set-up

Communications Intern
Internship Time Period:
 8 weeks from late May through late July 
 20 hours per week
 Flexible schedule
Qualifications and Skills:
 Excellent interpersonal communication skills
 Reliability, experience working independently, and strong work ethic
 Graphic design skills
 Knowledge of interview techniques and data collection 
 Passion for land preservation and the environment
 Access and willingness to use personal vehicle for off‐site work
 Experience using both a video camera and digital still camera a plus
