The following is a volunteer opportunity with the Philadelphia Orchard Project. More information about the organization can be found at

Do you love community orchards and the work of the Philadelphia Orchard Project?

We need some dedicated and capable volunteers to join our Board of Directors.  This is a very exciting time for POP, as we are undertaking a new strategic planning process that will determine the next phase of our growth and development.  Board responsibilities include participation in 4-6 meetings/year, committee work, representing and advocating for POP, and assisting in our annual fundraising appeal.  Although interest and commitment are the primary requirements, the following skills are of particular utility: strategic development, event planning, communication/PR, and finance/fundraising.  If interested, please send an inquiry and/or resume to POP President Kim Jordan (  Help determine the future of community orchards in Philadelphia!
Not up for the commitment of a board post?  We're also always looking for help on our various committees:

Coordinated by POP Director Phil Forsyth, this committee does POP's core work: evaluating new applicant orchard partners and coordinating with and supporting our  existing community orchards. Members are expected to come to at least two meetings per year and participate as a site liaison for at least one orchard partner. Anyone interested in joining this committee should contact:

POP's Events Committee organizes non-planting-related events, including happy hours & house parties, helps with tabling at events, and solicits in-kind donations from local businesses to support these events. If you have an interest and experience planning events, please consider helping POP! To learn more, please email Committee Chair Brian Olszak:

Do you know how to write grants or raise funds? POP welcomes experienced fundraisers to help sustain and expand our impacts. Help with grant-writing or editing, and donor or grantee identification. To learn more, contact POP President Kim Jordan:

Help POP to develop new educational materials about orchard care, nutrition, composting, weed identification, pest control, and more! If you would like to donate your expertise in research, curriculum development, graphic design, etc, please contact Committee Chair Nicole Yarbrough:
